Poem in Your Pocket Day

April 27th is Poem in Your Pocket Day! I am excited to spread the love of words on this unique day. Do you plan on celebrating? Don't fret if you forgot, or if this is the first time you are hearing about it. It doesn't take much to spread the joy of poetry. It could be as simple as placing a poem in your pocket for the day! Check out this poem from In the Land of Words: New and Selected Poems by Eloise Greenfield and Jan Spivey.

I'm looking forward to heading into school and writing some of my favorite poems out on the sidewalk for students to see as they enter the building. As they walk into school, poems will be scattered all around the building walls, bathroom stalls, etc... In the cafeteria students and faculty have the opportunity to share their poem in their pocket. I can't wait to see and feel everyone's anticipation and enjoyment!

I hope you are able to take a moment to honor the beauty and diversity poetry offers. Poetry is a gift. Give yourself time to read and reflect. Click here for more information about Poem in Your Pocket Day!
